COMMITTEES & PROGRAMS

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

This committee works to receive, review, and approve all applications for new members. Committee members will also create new ways and means for increasing the membership of the chapter.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

This committee will consider and recommend means for securing adequate income. They will recommend an annual budget to the Executive Board and advise the Executive Board and chapter concerning investments and other financial business. They will have all financial records examined at the end of the fiscal year by an accountant.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

This committee will make recommendations to the Executive Board for activities affecting Black local nurses and health care of the Black community.
They will work closely with members/groups and educational institutions to increase and retain the number of Black and other minorities completing nursing programs. They will also assist Black and other minority students in the development of strategies to achieve successful completion of nursing programs.

BY-LAWS COMMITTEE

This committee will consist of at least 5 members. They will periodically review the by-laws and notify the members of the proposed amendments at least thirty (30) days before the meeting. They will prepare the amendments for presentation to the membership. They will review chapter by-laws every five (5) years and make recommendations for changes as necessary.

SCHOLARSHIP & AWARDS COMMITTEE

This committee will establish and disseminate criteria for submitting candidates recommended for NBNA and the chapter scholarship award and recognition. They will screen and prepare all necessary information regarding recommended candidates for NBNA and chapter approval.

HEALTH POLICY COMMITTEE

This committee will initiate, endorse and support desirable health and nursing legislation in the interest of the Black community. They will work collaboratively with health care providers and /or organizations in disseminating information regarding national and or regional legislative issues.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

This committee consists of members who will update all social media. This includes our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin with upcoming meetings and events both nationally and locally.

MENTORSHIP

This program allows for mentorship opportunities at various levels.Students are paired with a mentor based on their career goals. Members also have the opportunity to request a mentor as they further their career.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

This program creates workshops geared towards student's professional growth and development. These workshops include resume building, mock interview sessions, career planning, and education presentations.
